From Film to Wine

I spent 18 years in film and television production as a Producer and Production Manager. It is an extremely stressful industry but I loved it. After awhile though, I started daydreaming more and more of when we would wrap and I could relax with a glass of wine with friends.

In between jobs, when I could travel, I would always try and find the nearest wine region, my ‘happy place.’ I loved tasting and couldn’t get enough of wine education through the tasting rooms, workshops and wine regions.

So I quit the film biz and got a job at a small family owned wine shop/tasting room, I started out washing dishes and plating cheese boards.  I enrolled in the WSET level 2 course and was hooked. After every level of wine education I wanted to go further with with my learning.

I became a Certified Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine in 2019, and started planning the future of Flights.

The Dream:
Flights Wine Bar

I want Flights Wine Bar to be a place without attitude where people can come to learn about wine or just relax and enjoy. I want to create the atmosphere I always dreamed of during a stressful day at work. More cafe than restaurant – comfy, chill, like a deep breath.

I want to make sure we are knowledgeable and can help our customers find a wine they are going to love. People are still a bit afraid to try new wines they haven’t heard of which is why we will offer flights that change each week. The flights are a fun and easy way to explore new wines from all over the world you might not have tried before without the risk of buying a whole bottle. We have retail sales to-go, so if you find a wine you love you can take a bottle home.

The other really important thing for me is having food. Wine and food just make each better. I want people to feel comfortable staying awhile and having lunch or dinner and offering more than just appetizers. Of course we have fresh made desserts, beer, cocktails and coffee too.

Oh and by the way, the name Flights has a double meaning because my husband and Co-Owner is a helicopter pilot, putting out fires all along the west, among other things. Be sure to check out his wine reviews in “Kent’s Korner”.

Hope to see you soon!

MISSION

To create a welcoming space for people to come and relax, enjoy a glass of good wine, good food and good friends.
